Porpoises (Summer Swim Team)
The summer team is for beginners to the sport of competitive
swimming, with no previous swim team experience. Ages 5
and up who have passed the equivalent of Turlock Rec's Level 3
swim lessons, or CVA's Gold Medal Stroke Clinic are
eligible. The Porpoises are taught technique in all four
strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly),
racing dives and turns, all in a fun and low-pressure
environment. Swimming is about, "Fun, Fitness and
Friends!"
Dates:
Session 1: April 16 - May 18 ( 5

Practice Times:
Most first time swimmers will be
in the beginning group that will practice from 5:00-5:45 P.M.
All swimmers will have the opportunity
to advance to higher practice groups

Cost: $75.00 per 5 week session
plus a 1 time USA swimming summer registration of $31.00

Extended Season
Program
We offer an
extended season for swimmers who want to continue building their
skills. The extended season lasts from July 24 through October 31
Age Group
Program
The Age
Group Program focuses on stroke technique instruction, practice skills,
introduction to training and competition, and preparation for the CVA
Senior Program.
Manta Ray Group
Minimum age is 6. Five days a week, 1 hour a day. The goals
for this group are to learn correct technique in all four strokes
(freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), streamlines,
racing starts, flip turns, open turns, basic stroke drills, circle
swimming, good practice habits and behavior, and acquiring swim meet
experience.
Mako Sharks Group
Minimum age is 9. Five days a week, 2 hours a day. Test
sets for entrance to this Group are a 200 IM in 3 minutes 30
seconds. The goals for this group are to perfect stroke
techniques and skills as much as possible, a basic understanding of
propulsion and drag, a strong work ethic, knowing their personal best
times, the various time standards and their significance, a positive
attitude towards competition and respect for competitors, leadership in
the group, and the development of an aerobic conditioning base that
will enable the transition to training in the Sailfish Group Program.
The CVA Senior Program builds upon the base of the Age Group
Program with more intensive training, high level competition and goal
pursuits, and preparation for collegiate swimming.
Sailfish Group
Minimum age is 12. Five days a week, two hour and 30 minutes
a day, with optional dry land training. Test sets for entrance to
this Group is a 200 IM in 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The goals for
this group are the development of an excellent aerobic conditioning
base and a strong anaerobic capacity; maintenance and perfection of
stroke technique and race skills; training responsibility,
independence, and leadership; detailed knowledge of personal best times
and time standards; knowledge of biomechanics, nutrition, and the
production of energy; advanced race strategies and psychological
strategies; goal setting and the planning of their swimming careers.
